ASRock X570 Taichi Razer Edition AMD AM4 ATX Motherboard
ASRock X570 Taichi Razer Edition Motherboard Overview
AMD released the Ryzen 5000 series desktop processors and finally took the gaming performance crown Intel had held for so long. This final step completed the Red brand's ascent back into the forefront of the desktop processor market that began with the launch of the first generation of Ryzen CPUs.With the Ryzen 3000 launch last year came the AMD X570 chipset. Featuring PCIe 4.0 support, X570 was an impressive leap from generations past. Ryzen 5000 did not launch with a new chipset, but many manufacturers are still launching improved versions of their best X570 boards in order to best cater to new AMD adopters. Today, we are looking at ASRock's newest launch with the ASRock X570 Taichi Razer Edition. As the name suggests, the ASRock X570 Taichi Razer Edition is a collaboration with Razer, the world's first motherboard to natively support Razer Chroma RGB lighting. Along with the improved RGB lighting and support for Razer's Synapse 3 RGB software, the ASRock X570 Taichi Razer Edition also features 2.5 Gb/s LAN from Killer Networking, as well as Killer Networking WiFi 6 and a beefed up VRM design to top everything off.
The ASRock X570 Taichi Razer Edition in many ways holds more similarity to the Phantom Gaming line than the traditional cog and gear themed Taichi boards. Considering the ASRock X570 Taichi Razer Edition focuses on RGB LEDs, this is not a bad choice as the ASRock Phantom Gaming lineup already includes one of the best RGB implementations in the industry.
While the PCB is a matte black, not much of it is visible. A large monolithic heatsink covers the entire bottom half of the board, with a white "Razer Chroma RGB" just above the chipset fan. The Rear I/O cover also features a dark finish with "Razer Edition" in white. Overall, the aesthetic is very neutral, providing a good platform for the RGB to do the talking. The CPU socket is open enough to accommodate most coolers, and the VRM heatsink looks quite capable.
There are three M.2 slots on the ASRock X570 Taichi Razer Edition; one of these is above the first PCIe x16 slot, and another has been put between the second and third PCIe x16 slots. All three slots feature a full-coverage heatsink. The ASRock X570 Taichi Razer Edition offers three PCI Express 4.0 x16 slots, all encased in steel armor, as well as a single PCI Express 4.0 x1 slot. The board has a total of eight SATA 6 Gb/s ports, and all are angled 90 degrees from the board.
